Welcome to SCOMathon 2023 – the ultimate learning opportunity for all things SCOM. Get the latest updates from Microsoft, learn best practices from the experts, and discover tips and tricks from the SCOM community, to maximize the power of SCOM.
SCOMathon is a virtual SCOM community conference, organized by SquaredUp, Cookdown, and Silect to enhance networking, knowledge, and sharing of best practices across the global SCOM community.
We’ll also be donating $2 per attendee/session to Girls Who Code an international non-profit organization working to close the gender gap in technology by teaching girls computer science.
This year, SCOMathon will span multiple time zones – from New Zealand to the West Coast of the United States and everywhere in between.
Microsoft MVPs, SCOM experts, and SCOM customers will come together to discuss all things SCOM, including the latest updates, best practice tips, specific use case scenarios, and much more.
The virtual conference will feature speaker sessions consisting of topic-based presentations, how-to guides, and panel discussions. So, come prepared to learn!
The event will be streamed on LinkedIn on the 25th of May. Live Q&A will be available throughout the event. But don’t worry if you miss a session it will all be recorded and available on replay.
We’ll be streaming:
In this session, Jan talks us through both HP and Dell’s latest MPs for monitoring their hardware. He will cover the history behind each MP, what they each do well, and where there is room for improvement. Jan has also worked around the gaps in each MP.
Dieter takes us through the top things people do wrong when setting up a new SCOM deployment, impacting cost, time or worse: cause issues later down the line. From systems architectural design to DB sizing, Dieter has it all covered.
In this session, the Microsoft SCOM product group will demo the latest capabilities and discuss the roadmap of Azure Monitor SCOM Managed Instance, the new Hybrid Monitoring capability of Azure Monitor. For SquaredUp users, we will showcase the experience of SCOM MI integration with SquaredUp dashboards for visualization of monitoring data.
SCOM MI is a fantastic breath of fresh air for the SCOM community, bringing SCOM’s all powerful MPs and health rollup to the cloud. But how does it sit against the backdrop of an increasingly cloud centric world with workloads becoming increasingly more serverless? Bob will take us through what is possible today and explains SCOM’s place in the future.
MP authoring is expensive and time consuming, but PowerShell can get you 80% of the results in 20% of the time. Stoyan will show you how to get going and share some of the coolest use cases he has come across over the last 12 months of working heavily with PowerShell and SCOM. Expect demos, foundations and dos and don’ts.
So you have heard of SCOM MI but have no idea how you might go about using it? Fear not! Bob is here to explain its architecture, how to set it up, cost implications, and what a migration path to it might look like.
In this session, you will learn about the different agent types Microsoft offer, the functions offered by each agent, and find out how to make a smooth transition from MMA to AMA. Hint… MMA will be decommissioned for Azure use from August 2024.
At SCOMathon 2022, Dujon announced ProtectOrg’s free Endpoint Management (aka SCCM/Intune) to replace Microsoft’s now deprecated SCCM MP. This year, Dujon is back with a new version that has some awesome new features, and all for free.
